Long Night of Research
(Lange Nacht der Forschung, LNF) on April 24th 2026
On the 24th of April the FELMI-ZFE was one of the LNF sites of TU Graz. Visitors had the possibility to get to know one scanning electron microscope (SEM) and one transmission electron microscope (TEM) “in action”. Georg Haberfehlner and Elena Unterleutner presented a specimen live in the TEM Titan³ G2 60–300 (ASTEM) in high resolution mode and Florian Zrim and Armin Zankel presented different specimens in the (E)SEM Quanta 450 FEG.
Claudia Mayrhofer and Anita Rossmann-Perner serviced guests at the booth in the second floor of the house Steyrergasse 17. For each hour between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. visitors could get so-called counting cards for a group of 16 persons. Thus, about 80 persons could enjoy live presentations at electron microscopes and on the whole about 200 persons were visiting our booth and the corridor of our second floor, where breathtaking electron-microscopical images were exhibited.
Since the first LNF 2008 in Graz, the FELMI-ZFE is a reliable partner of the LNF managers of TU Graz. So, since nearly 20 years we are in creative contact with Gerti Pichler from TU Graz and her team which was supported this year by many volunteers.
